With the potential
for 2,000 children and their parents on parade day, volunteers are
always welcome to come and help with
registration, assembly, crowd control and entertainment. If you would
like to help, please e-mail your name and phone number to ChidrensParade@EdmondsWA.com
and someone will call you.
General
Parade Information
All
events are free and open to the public. Spectators can number
in the thousands so you need to reserve your place
on the parade route early. There are no seat or chair rentals
available on the parade route.
- Pets
- The Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce discourages
spectators and participants from bringing their pets to
these events. Should you decide to bring a pet anyway,
you must be prepared to clean up any mess they make. The
Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce bears no liability
from any injury your pet may cause to another person.
Pets are not allowed in the Children's parade or at
the fireworks location (Civic Stadium.)
- Public
Safety
- Many streets in the downtown core area are
closed for the Children's Parade and Main Parade. We ask
you to observe ALL street barricades. Many of our children
are in the streets during these events and by removing
barricades and driving through you put them at risk. Drivers
who move barricades may be ticketed by Edmonds Police.
- First
Aid
- Should you
have an emergency please call 911. You can locate an officer or a parade
volunteer who can call for assistance. Parade volunteers
are not allowed to administer first aid.
- Handicap
Parking
- for the parades is available at the Edmonds Public Library.
You may enter the area by driving from the west on Dayton
Ave. Turn into the library parking lot and you will find
the marked spaces. Parking is on a "first come, first
served" basis and your vehicle must display a state
issued handicapped license plate or placard to use these
parking spaces.
- Lost
Children
- In the event a child becomes lost he/she
will be taken to the Edmonds Public Safety Building located
at 250 Fifth Avenue North. A police officer will be there
to verify the relationship.
- Restrooms
- There are approximately 20 portable restrooms along
the parade route and at the Civic Stadium (see map below).
Please do not use the restrooms in local businesses that
may be open on parade day. A handicap access restroom
will be located at the southeast corner of 5th and Main
as well as at Civic Stadium.
- Sound/Announcers
- There are two announcers along the parade route (see
map below). One is located next to Tully's Coffee on
5th Avenue South and the other next to the Edmonds Theatre
on Main Street.
- Vendors
- Vendors are NOT allowed on the streets along the
parade route. Our streets are narrow and the presence
of vendors is considered a safety hazard by the police
department. Some of the local restaurants along the parade
route do open on parade day and Hot Dog Joe's will have
carts available behind the fountain on 5th and Main and
in the Washington Mutual parking lot on 5th and Walnut.
Any vendors who operate off the parade route area or at
the fireworks program must be pre-approved by the Greater
Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, secure a permit from the
City of Edmonds, and must meet specific insurance
requirements. The Edmonds Police Department may issue
citations to unqualified vendors.
