Management

This resource page from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a venture capital fund, has useful links to sources of legal, engineering, general management and industry information.

The U.S. Business Advisor is an offshoot of the SBA. It was created to give businesses information about government services and regulations as well as access to forms, tools, and guides. There is also information available on foreign trade regulations.

SCORE - Counselors to
America's Small Business

SCORE, the Service Corps. of Retired Executives, is a nonprofit organization of 12,400 volunteers who provide free counseling in person and via email to small business owners.

MoreBusiness.com

Sponsored by Dell. Mostly a collection of business articles from other sources arranged by topic for start-ups and running a business. The site also contains sample business and marketing plans and checklists, and free offers (downloads, e-zines etc.). It is a little awkward to navigate, but contains some valuable material on a variety of business issues.

@brint.com

A massive portal for e-commerce and knowledge management articles from all over. It contains searchable libraries from many online sources of articles. There is also an interesting open calendar for posting relevant events, but it currently seems underused.

A resource for home officing, telecommuting, and ways of doing business without the resources of a complete office. Reviews and buying guides for software and hardware are combined with articles on telephony, telecommuting, equipment, internet, y2k issues and even tax issues.

Canadian service Centres provides a directory of federal business programs by subject or organization, access to the federal Business Information System, information on business fairs and meetings, as well as an interactive business planner, online small business workshop and an e-commerce information guide.

BusinessTown.com Small Business Information Portal

Another one-stop-shopping business site.  It contains mostly links to articles, but on just about every topic a business owner could want Accounting, Finance, Hiring & Firing, Sales, Marketing, Management, you name it.  A good first stop for general info and resources.

How SBA helps America's entrepreneurs

What isn't on this site? The U.S. Small Business Administration offers loan information, loan forms, online courses, information about training and courses in all 50 states, free access to two modules from the online support tool Harvard ManageMentor (Finance Essentials and Solving Business Problems), shareware, a start-up kit, a business plan online, information and assistance related to financing and marketing your business, an extensive links page, and publications and videos such as "ABCs of Borrowing" and "Employees, How to Find and Pay Them". Most publications are $3; most videos, $27.

Bplans.com

Includes sample business and marketing plans, along with a start-up section featuring answers to common questions about starting a company.

A business incubator site, with entrepreneurial training materials and links to many other entrepreneurial resources.

a strategy game of Go

This site from Strategic Advantage, Inc. offers a number of free services to help you with your strategic planning endeavors, including a free "strategic quotient" test, which can give you some areas to consider in your strategic position, a Strategic Tip of The Week, a free service to give you an industry benchmark profile based on SIC code, and some clips on "worst strategic decisions" with an offer for a free booklet describing bad strategic decisions.

Idea Cafe Home

A refreshingly different business information center.  This site is really organized around peer interaction, and the message boards are actually used! There are many discussions and articles on all business topics, as well as recommended books (available through Amazon.com), links, tech reviews and financing sources.  The site is hip and a little cute but has a lot of activity, and a lot of useful info.
