just sell

There's no bigger buzzword than "portal" on the Web today, so it should come as no surprise to find a site billing itself as "Your Sales & Marketing Portal". The creators of justsell.com have gone so far as to trademark the line, but they've also done plenty to show that its more than just buzz, combining original content with sales information drawn from elsewhere on the Web. The best of the outside info is found in the Mines section, which includes daily summaries of sales and marketing news with links to full articles in the source publications. The original content includes well-written "thoughts & commentary" designed to "excite, motivate and help you think outside the cage about selling and its process". And don't overlook the Discussion area (under Tools on the front page); the moderators and the participants do a good job of keeping these forums active, lively, and on target. Justsell.com has done a fine job of creating a place for sales pros and managers to exchange tips and keep in touch with the best sales sources on the Web.

A catchy name and an information-packed site have won considerable attention for this four-year-old Web-only publication. Its best on the nitty-gritty of the sales process, with articles (updated weekly) on everything from writing sales letters and making cold calls to building relationships and closing the deal. Managers will want to head straight for the Sales Managers Corner, where the focus is on recruiting salespeople, training and coaching, motivation and compensation, and general sales management. You can browse management-centered articles from the current edition and the 20 most recent issues, all available from the main page. Better yet, hit the Archives icon and follow the Managers Corner link to browse all articles from this section arranged by subtopic.

Jeffrey Gitomer, author of The Sales Bible, and Customer Satisfaction is Worthless, Customer Loyalty is Priceless, has a web site with a lot of interesting and inspirational content on sales strategies.  This link brings you to a clip of slogans and sales principles, which will then also take you to the site.  Of particular value on the site are the articles and sales help bits.  There is not a lot of content on the site, as it is primarily designed to sell Gitomer's books and seminars, but it does contain valuable perspectives on customer service and sales in general.

Visit most sales-oriented Web sites and you'll find management-related material tucked in a corner. That's not a criticism, just a fact of life: sales sites are anxious to attract the eyeballs of the many thousand of salespeople searching for information. But this site from Sales & Marketing Management magazine (S&MM) is different: you wont have to go hunting for the management material here. With a readership composed mainly of managers and executives, S&MM takes the long view of the selling process; that editorial focus is evident in the print publication and in the sampling available online. Click on the S&MM Magazine button to get the current months cover story and selected features, plus results of annual surveys such as "Americas Best Sales Forces", "The State of Sales & Marketing Technology", and "The Hottest Cities for Selling". If youre a subscriber to the print magazine (you can become one for $48 a year), you get access to a searchable archive of every article that has appeared in S&MM since 1993.
