The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that registration is open for the “Beat Brackett 5K”.
The race is electronically timed using RFID chips on each runner to provide accurate and quick results. Runners who opt in will receive a performance (tech) running shirt to wear in the race. Nothing compliments a running shirt like a ‘fake’ beard, George Brackett inspired ‘fake’ beards will be available for runner’s to don during the race.
In addition to trying to win your age and gender bracket, runners will attempt to “Beat Brackett”. One special runner in the 5K is designated as George Brackett and your goal is to beat him to the finish line, Beat Brackett this year for a chance to ‘be’ Brackett in next year’s race. Last year only 50 runners were able to "Beat Brackett".
Attracting over 550 participants, the “Beat Brackett 5K” is the perfect kick-off to a full day of 4th of July festivities taking place in the heart of historic downtown Edmonds. For those with a competitive streak, an awards ceremony with metals will be held immediately following the race.
The “Beat Brackett 5K” will take place on July 4 and starts in Edmonds City Park at 3rd Ave. S & Pine St. Registration opens at 8:30 am and the race starts at 10 am. All participants are asked to arrive before 9:30 am to pick up their race bib and materials. There is a $30 registration fee, which includes a race shirt or $25 without a shirt. Day of event registration is available for $30 but shirts are not guaranteed. Sign up today and start training.
Did you know that proceeds from the Beat Brackett 5K help fund the entire 4th of July celebration for Edmonds? Your race registration, business sponsorships and the Hazel Miller Foundation grant are all responsible for funding our independance day in Edmonds. The fireworks will continue to delight Edmonds with your help.
