Beauty and the Taste
Friday, 19 July 2013 02:08

Miss EdmondsEdmonds is known for its beautiful views. On Sunday, August 11, from Noon to 2 p.m. the Taste will also provide something to gaze at, as twenty contestants in the Miss Washington USA and Miss Washington Teen USA competition will be introduced. However, as the old saying goes “beauty is only skin deep.” All these young women prove that to be true, as they will be given the opportunity to share their social platforms, not just their charms.

The young women represent counties and towns throughout the state. Each one gained her current title through an interview process that assessed her moral character and required her to meet specific qualifications. Each will compete at the state competition in October where she will be judged in three categories: interviewing skills, swimsuit, and evening gown.

Stroll the grounds of A Taste of Edmonds and you never know whom you are going to meet. Besides a Miss Washington contestant, keep an eye out for the tallest man in Edmonds, a belly dancer, clowns, a world famous safari guide, or a giant chicken.

To meet with this year’s festival theme, visitors should also spot Elvis! It should be the largest rash of Elvis sighting since the 1980s when the media paid attention to a number of Elvis sightings in Kalamazoo, Michigan!

Elvis was quoted as saying "The most beautiful thing in the world to me is a baby lookin' as pretty as her mamma." We think he also had a good eye for a pretty girl.

The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce produces the Taste of Edmonds annually.
