Membership & Events Manager Named

Sandra WilliamsI know that the past 2 months have been especially difficult for our Chamber, the members and our Board of Directors.  When I was offered this position in May, I knew how many challenges and obstacles we would have to overcome as we strive to better our organization.  I say ‘our organization’ because it belongs to those who choose to be an active member and support our mission and the community.  We all must protect and nurture the Chamber to ensure the next 100 years of our history can be written.

We received over 23 applications for the position and after an extensive interview process were able to identify the best fit for this position.  I would like to thank the 3 Board members, Log Cabin volunteer and staff members who participated in the process.  The backgrounds of these interviewers and the variety of questions asked allowed for a more comprehensive picture to emerge of the candidates.  The process was very collaborative and all opinions and views were heard.

I am pleased to announce our new Membership and Events Manager, Sandra Williams.  Sandra comes to us with many years of service and leadership in non-profits around the globe, including Mexico, Greece and locally in Bellevue.  Her proven track record managing staff, planning events and working with volunteers make her an asset to this organization and the greater community.

In addition to non-profit experience, Sandra has also been an entrepreneur.  While getting her BA in Business Management she started a dog walking-pet sitting business in Kirkland and in only four years was successful enough to sell the company in August of this year.

Sandra has volunteered for many events with the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce and is very passionate about community.  She speaks Spanish and conversational Greek and most recently completed the “Camino de Santiago” solo, a 500-mile trek across Spain.

We look forward to Sandra Williams beginning her new journey with the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce this January.  Her experiences, attention to detail and warm demeanor will surely endear her to our greater Edmonds community and Chamber members.  Sandra stated, “I’m so excited to join the Chamber and become a part of the Edmonds community!”

Thank you all for your patience and support this year, we are looking forward to a wonderful 2015.
