Michael Reagan

EDMONDS, WA, May 1, 2015:  The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Michael Reagan as the 2015 Grand Marshals of the “An Edmonds Kind of Fourth” Parade.  Mr. Reagan is an Edmonds resident whom the Congressional Medal of Honor Society recognized this year with the “Citizens Service Before Self Honors” award.  This award is given to everyday citizens for courage, sacrifice, selflessness and patriotism.

Mr. Reagan, a Vietnam veteran, has spent the last 11 years drawing over 4,200 portraits of service members who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The portraits are given to the families of the fallen soldiers at no cost and “sadly, some of the pictures I drew were the only things that came home” said Reagan.  In addition to the portraits, Mr. Reagan is very involved in raising money for charities and to date has helped raise over $10 million.

This 4th of July celebration coincides with the 125th Anniversary of the City of Edmonds, the oldest city in Snohomish County.  For 108 years the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, with support from the business community, has produced the 4th of July festivities for the citizens of Edmonds.  We hope that you participate in the celebrations this year by attending the events, running in the 5K or even marching in the parade.
