Action Requested: Show your support for the Port’s Harbor Square Master Plan
Friday, 28 December 2012 00:14

At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 29th at 7 pm, City Council will be holding a third Public Hearing for input on the Planning Board’s recommendation to incorporate the Port’s Harbor Square Master Plan into the City’s Comprehensive Plan.  The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has reviewed the Port of Edmonds’ plan carefully and the Chamber Board has concluded the Harbor Square plan is of real benefit to the community overall, not just the business community.

The Board of Directors and Staff of the Edmonds Chamber encourage you to email all your City Council members and the City Clerk’s office (email addresses provided below) to voice your support to incorporate the Port’s Harbor Square Master Plan into the City’s Comprehensive Plan.  Below are some points to draw upon for your statement of support:

  • Allowing the Port of Edmonds to proceed with this plan would provide for improved sustainable economic vitality of Edmonds and a more prosperous community for the long term.
  • A healthy business climate not only attracts prospective employers to Edmonds, revenues from business are necessary to reduce the need for tax increases for health, schools, police and other human services.
  • A healthy community requires a healthy and thriving business community to support the quality of life residents value, brings visitors to Edmonds and attracts employers so our brainpower stays in Edmonds instead of commuting elsewhere in Seattle.
