The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce recently announced the creation of the Young Professional Network (YPN). The motivation is to better serve the chamber membership by offering a new resource to young professionals in the community.

The Young Professionals Network is composed of individuals in their 20s and 30s who can be business owners or in sales, business development, non-profit and even job seekers. The goal is to create an environment where young professionals can learn and grow their business and to also grow as an individual and a professional.

The group meets monthly to network and quarterly to give back to the community. The monthly meetings are typically held in a restaurant or a location where food will be provided. The events are $10 for entry and come with appetizers; drinks are available for purchase. Each quarter the YPN plans to perform community service activities ranging from volunteering and fundraising to donating time and resources to worthy causes in the area.

While some networking events may have a theme or specific topic, there is no “elevator speech” required at Young Professionals Network meetings. The group wants to provide a relaxed setting where individuals can connect to each other.

If you have questions about attending or hosting an event, email them to The next networking event will be Feb. 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Loft in downtown Edmonds. The next volunteer opportunity will be the Relay for Life event at Edmonds-Woodway High School from noon June 1 until 9 a.m. June 2.
