Liquor Control Policy for Members
Thursday, 14 March 2013 00:00

Dear Edmonds Chamber Member,

We truly value your membership in the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. The mission of the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is to promote the economic vitality of the greater Edmonds business community through advocacy, leadership and education. One way we promote economic vitality is by assisting in presenting events intended to draw residents and visitors to member businesses.

After being contacted by the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) last fall, we have been working on gaining clarity on the legal issues relating to the serving of alcohol at Chamber related events. At this time, we want to make clear our policy in relation to the serving of alcohol by members at events that the Chamber has presented or that have received Chamber support or participation.

Our policy is as follows:

The Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce does not encourage, facilitate or provide approval or support regarding the serving of alcohol at events conducted by Chamber members, notwithstanding any general assistance, support or participation by the Chamber that may occur for such event.  Examples of such events include the Third Thursday Art  Walk and Ribbon Cuttings. Any Chamber member choosing to serve alcohol at an event they will host or organize, regardless of whether such event is with the support or participation of the Chamber, shall be informed that such member shall be solely responsible to determine and comply with all applicable laws and rules regarding the serving of alcohol.  Chamber members are responsible to contact the WSLCB directly with any questions and to assure compliance if serving alcohol at the member’s business.

Current contact information for the Washington State Liquor Control Board is:
Lt. Kate Miyasato, WSLCB Enforcement Division
1521 Leigh Way #A
Mt. Vernon, WA 98273

The Chamber values your membership and is pleased to work with members to increase business success.  We provide this reminder to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding.
